Gabriele Marangoni's abstract works are shaped by his instinctive nature and expressive artistic temperament. The physical process of painting allows him to explore a palette of human emotions and moods.  He draws parallels between these shifting emotional states and the changing character of Aotearoa’s natural environment, where distinctive weather patterns, shifting light and evolving colour palettes provide an ongoing source of inspiration.

Italian-born, Marangoni immigrated to New Zealand 12 years ago and has  embraced it as his permanent home. He feels deeply connected to Aotearoa,  it’s open spaces, natural environment and relaxed creative culture have given him the freedom and confidence to discover his own artistic voice.

Inspired by the energy of abstract expressionism and the freedom of action painting, Gabriele works instinctively, often using his hands and fluid enamel paint. His developing process,  is shaped by rhythm, gravity, and motion.

Gabriele works from The Studio Gallery in Titirangi, alongside Artist and Designer Hayley Brown. Their  studio gallery is open Fri, Sat and Sunday with studio visits  by appointment  www.thestudiogallery.nz
